Digital detox apps promise a reset, but a reset only sticks if something changes about the days after it. The five apps below all survive that test in different ways: they're less about a heroic week off and more about making the ordinary week quieter.
One thing to know up front: we make one of these digital detox apps, enough., and this list says plainly where the other four fit better. If you're not sure what kind of reset you're after, what a digital detox actually is covers the ground rules.
Ratings and prices below come from the US App Store, checked this week.
1. Opal

App Store rating 4.7 from 83,913 ratings on the US App Store, as of 20 July 2026.
Price: Free tier + $99.99/yr Pro (source)
Platforms: iPhone, Android, Mac
Opal is the scheduled-sessions approach at its most refined. Pick apps, pick hours, pick how hard the block fights back, and let the sessions repeat daily until the quiet hours feel normal. That repeatability is what makes it a detox tool rather than a one-off: the same evening block, every evening. Pro costs $99.99 a year, the most on this list, with a one-schedule free tier to trial the feel.
Best for: building a daily quiet block and keeping it.
2. Unrot

App Store rating 4.7 from 55,998 ratings on the US App Store, as of 20 July 2026.
Price: Full Access IAPs $4.99–$69.99 (source)
Platforms: iPhone (iOS 18+)
Unrot inverts the detox: instead of taking apps away, it makes you earn them. Walks, journaling, breathing exercises and other real-world habits earn coins, coins unlock your chosen apps, and a virtual companion reflects how you're doing. It's a detox where the replacement behavior is built in, which is the part most detoxes miss. It needs iOS 18 or later, and the in-app purchases ($4.99 to $69.99) aren't clearly labelled by period on the listing, so read before you buy.
Best for: people who need the detox to hand them something to do instead.
3. enough.

Our app. Newer than the others here, with far fewer App Store ratings, so judge it on fit rather than review count.

Price: Free 7-day program + $49.99/yr Complete (source)
Platforms: iPhone
Ours, and built around a structured start: the free 7-day program is a guided detox week, one change a day, no card required. After that, the reset lives in your setup: places and schedules where your chosen apps stay blocked, Driving Protection on the road, and a press-and-hold barrier instead of a free tap, so day eight doesn't depend on how you're feeling. Real limits, stated plainly: iPhone only, newest and smallest app on this page. Complete is $49.99 a year.
Best for: someone who wants the detox week and the ordinary weeks after it handled by the same setup.
4. BePresent

App Store rating 4.8 from 58,545 ratings on the US App Store, as of 20 July 2026.

Price: Free tier + $79/yr (source)
Platforms: iPhone
A detox is easier with company, and BePresent is designed around exactly that. Group sessions and friend challenges turn the reset into something you do together, streaks and leaderboards keep score, and Beast Mode locks things down when the group's momentum isn't enough. The free tier gives you the shape of it; the full plan is $79 a year.
Best for: households and friend groups detoxing together instead of alone.
5. Refocus

App Store rating 4.8 from 10,489 ratings on the US App Store, as of 20 July 2026.
Price: Free tier + Pro from $49.99/yr (source)
Platforms: iPhone, Mac companion
Refocus is for the detox that keeps failing at the unlock. Its Strict Mode only opens via a passcode you can hand to someone else, an NFC tag you can leave in another room, a wait timer, or a typed challenge long enough to kill the impulse. That's the widest set of self-binding options on this list. Schedules, per-app time limits, and screen time analytics round it out, with Pro from $49.99 a year.
Best for: people who keep negotiating with their own settings and need the key kept somewhere harder.
Choosing among digital detox apps
Pick by what broke your last reset. The quiet hours never became routine: Opal. Nothing filled the gap the phone left: Unrot. It fell apart back in ordinary life, at the same places and hours: that's the case enough. was built for. Doing it alone: BePresent. The 11pm self-unlock: Refocus.
No single winner here, just five different failure points, each with an app that guards it.
